We're excited to welcome you to our Holiday Party in just a few weeks! Note that…this gathering will be the first time we use our new custom app. We may encounter a few glitches (please be patient with us), but we're confident that our efforts in making Spatial Ape its own experience will be well worth it!

Community and Industry Updates:

📱 AR News The British music group Gorillaz performed “AR concerts” in London and New York this weekend (using Google's Geospatial API). Fans were able to watch the performance in the “Gorillaz Presents” app for iOS & Android Here’s a good visual from Twitter, and a good article on the event.

👓 Hardware News HTC unveiled its new Vive Pro Eye and Vive Focus Plus headsets at CES. The Vive Pro Eye is a standalone device that is able to track eye-movement and has built-in AR capabilities, while the Vive Focus Plus is a self-contained headset that supports 6DoF tracking and can be used for both augmented and virtual reality experiences. Some say it could be an interesting Quest Pro competitor at a lower price point. Wouldn’t that be nice!

🦜 Discussion Perhaps the most illustrious and well respected VR dev/technologist to be walking around planet earth right now, John Carmack, leaves Meta citing frustration with “efficiency” and having his voice heard at the company. Do you think he did the right thing? Or is he passing up the best possible opportunity to shape the future of VR?

🔦 Game Highlight Gorilla Tag is now on the Quest store. Now, even more people can “return to Monke”. If you haven’t tried it yet. Shame on you, but now is your chance.

🎉 Something Fun Epic video showing the coding ability of ChatGPT. A must watch “ChatGPT wrote my AR Game”​
