Daniel, here. Hope you're doing well. We hope you are looking forward to this week's meeting.

I just got back from the Immerse Global Summit in Miami. CyberHub Syndicate - the new parent company of Spatial Ape - had a booth there to demo Foundry - the open source project we’re working on. It was great to meet-up live with the community, and I even met some fellow apes in person!

It’s pretty clear to me, though, that business people don’t quite understand VR ;)

This week, I’m looking forward to getting into VR with all of you for the last time in Altspace... After this we’ll get on the custom app.

We have a great guest speaker who is super knowledgeable about the XR scene, so we hope you can come up with some great questions for him.

Community and Industry Updates:

👋 Funding News “Virtual reality edtech startup iXRLabs raises $800K seed investment (...) iXRLabs provides engineering, medicine, and science-focused experiential and immersive VR educational modules to universities and colleges. The platform aims to create immersive and engaging learning experiences in the classroom and prepare students for the real-life workplace environment.”

VR Game Highlight Compound is a retro-style rogue-like first person shooter with Duke Nukem/ Doom vibes, and it dropped last week on the Quest. People love it! I’ve played it on Steam, but I’m excited for more people to access the game on Quest standalone. Check out some reviews and playthroughs.

🏢 Events It is now over, but Snap Lensfest 2022 was all over our social media feed the last few weeks. This company does a great job showing off the beauty and innovation of AR for the everyday consumer. Be sure to check out the award winners.

🦜 Discussion “The FTC has sued to prevent Meta’s acquisition of Within Unlimited and its fitness app Supernatural, asserting it would hurt competition and violate antitrust laws.” - PBS Do you think that this lawsuit makes sense? Some are arguing that this will scare off budding VR companies who are hoping to be acquired. Let us know your thoughts in the discord.

🔦 Dev News Highlight Unity 2022.2 just released, watch a great summary here. Especially exciting because of the XRI version 2.2 release with “multi-grab support, new locomotion methods, and a collection of ready-to-go Prefabs in our Starter Assets sample package.”
